March 7, 2023 (Peoria, Ariz.) - After being destroyed by the Dodgers yesterday, the Padres went home to face the Angels. Tucker Davidson started for L.A. against Seth Lugo.
After getting out of a few jams, the Padres struck gold finally in the fourth with Pedro Severino’s sac groundout that scored Tim Lopes. Taylor Kohlwey singled to center to score Rougned Odor after Chris Devenski bobbled the throw to home and the Friars led 2-0 after four.
The Angels got on the board in the sixth with a long double to left by Kyren Paris that scored Jo Adell. The Halos tied it when an Andrew Velasquez single made it past third base and scored Paris from second and we were tied at two after six.
The Angels took the lead in the seventh with the bases loaded. Jose Godoy was hit by a pitch to score Trey Cabbage from third. Jordyn Adams singled to score two. In the home half, José Azocar singled to score Luis Liberato and Rangel Ravelo doubled to score Azocar, but the Angels’ rally prevailed with a 5-4 win.
