August 7, 2017 (Cincinnati) - Yesterday’s walk-off by the Pirates was heartbreaking, but tonight, the Padres started a new series with a new team, the Reds, for four games.  Jhoulys Chacin started game one tonight against Tim Adleman for the Reds.

The Reds have had a lackluster record for the past week (3-2), so they saw the Padres on their schedule and took advantage.  Joey Votto singled in the first to score Billy Hamilton and the Reds took a 1-0 lead.

Votto was at it again in the third, hitting a two-run homer to increase the lead to 3-0 Cincinnati.

Jose Pirela got the Padres to within one with a two-run blast of his own in the fourth to make it 3-2.

But unfortunately for them, Adam Duvall decided to join in on the home run craze in the sixth, hitting a two-runner in the sixth to make it 5-2 Reds.

Another two-run homer came off the bat of Zack Cozart in the seventh and the Reds took a 7-2 lead.

Pirela hit his second homer of the night in the eighth--a solo shot to make it 7-3.

But Patrick Kivlehan put the dagger in the Padres’ hearts with a grand slam in the Reds’ half of the eighth and the Reds took game one 11-3.

Game two is tomorrow at 4:10 p.m.  Luis Perdomo will start against Sal Romano for the Reds.
