ECM PADRES REPORT: HOT RAYS DROP PADRES IN GAME ONE

June 16, 2023 (San Diego) - The Guardians left and were replaced by another American League team, the Tampa Bay Rays.  Shane McClanahan started tonight’s game one for Tampa against Yu Darvish.

Isaac Paredes took charge with a homer in the second and the Rays led 1-0 after two.

 
Randy Arozarena added on with a single in the fourth that scored Luke Raley and the Rays led 2-0 after four.
 
Jose Siri added on in the fifth with a ground ball single to right to score Taylor Walls and Arozarena blasted a three-run bomb to left and the Rays led 6-0 after five.
 
Nelson Cruz ended the shutout with a deep solo homer to left in the seventh.  The Rays still led 6-1 after seven.
 
Xander Bogaerts doubled to left in the eighth to score Fernando Tatis Jr., but despite loading the bases in the ninth, the Rays held the Padres at bay with a 6-2 win.
 
UP NEXT
 
Game two tomorrow is at 4:15 p.m. and can only be seen on Fox.  Zac Eflin starts for the Rays against Blake Snell.
