August 9, 2023 (Seattle) - The Mariners took one last night. Tonight, the Padres tried to even the series with Yu Darvish on the mound against Emerson Hancock for the Mariners.
Ha-Seong Kim scored on a fielder’s choice in the first and the Padres led 1-0 after one.
But J.P. Crawford hit a sac fly in the third to score Cade Marlowe and we were tied at one after three.
We were locked up until the eighth when Cal Raleigh demolished a towering two-run blast to right. SDSU alum Ty France lined a double to left to score Teoscar Hernandez to knock Steven Wilson out of the game. Marlowe singled to score France. Dylan Moore singled to center to score Marlowe and the Mariners rocked the Padres with a 6-1 win and the sweep.
UP NEXT
After a day off, the Padres head to Arizona to take on the Diamondbacks. Game one on Friday at 6:40 p.m. Blake Snell starts against a pitcher to be named for Arizona.
