May 30, 2023 (Miami) - The Padres went from New York to Miami for three games with the Marlins. Ryan Weathers started today against Sandy Alcantara for Miami.
Garrett Cooper kicked things off for the Marlins in the third with a single that scored Bryan De La Cruz, but Matt Carpenter doubled in the fourth to score Rougned Odor. De La Cruz belted a two-run homer in the bottom of the fourth and the Marlins led 3-1 after four.
Ha-Seong Kim scored on a Juan Soto single in the fifth and the Marlins led 3-2 after five.
De La Cruz added on with a single in the sixth that scored Jon Berti and the Fish led 4-2 after six.
From then on, the Padres took control. Fernando Tatis Jr. singled in the seventh to score Trent Grisham, Soto singled to score Kim, Xander Bogaerts singled in the ninth to score Tatis Jr., Odor grounded into a fielder’s choice to score Soto, Carpenter doubled to score two and Kim put the cherry on top with a sac fly that scored Brandon Dixon and the Padres tackled the Marlins 9-4.
