June 23, 2023 (San Diego) - After kind of a bad series in San Francisco, only winning one game, the Padres returned home to host the Nats for the weekend.  Patrick Corbin started tonight’s game one against Grossmont High alum Joe Musgrove.

Ha-Seong Kim tallied first with a solo homer to left in the first and the Padres led 1-0 after one.

Kim wasn’t done.  He hit a two-RBI single to center in the fifth and Xander Bogaerts capped it off with a three-run homer and the Padres led 7-0 after five.

The Nats got on the board in the sixth with a single from Joey Meneses that score Jeimer Candelario,  Juan Soto doubled to left in the seventh to score Fernando Tatis Jr.  With the bases loaded, Nelson Cruz singled to score two.  Trent Grisham hit a ground rule double to score Jake Cronenworth and the Padres led 11-1 after seven.

Soto blasted a two-run homer in the eighth.  Two runs scored for the Nats in the ninth, but the Padres crushed them with a 13-3 win.
