ECM PADRES REPORT: PADRES DOWN GUARDIANS IN GAME ONE

June 13, 2023 (San Diego) - The Padres returned home after a short road trip to host the Guardians.  Tanner Bibee started tonight’s game one for Cleveland against Grossmont High alum Joe Musgrove.

Xander Bogaerts kicked things off in the first with a sac fly that scored Fernando Tatis Jr. and Gary Sanchez blasted a three-run homer.  Josh Bell homered in the second, but so did Tatis Jr. in the home half and the Padres led 5-1 after two.

 
Will Brennan scored in the fifth, but Bogaerts doubled to score Manny Machado in the home half and the Padres led 6-2 after five.
 
Tyler Freeman hit a sac fly in the sixth to score Jose Ramirez and the Padres led 6-3 after seven.
 
UP NEXT
 
Game two tomorrow is at 6:40 p.m.  Aaron Civale starts for Cleveland against Michael Wacha.
