July 3, 2023 (San Diego) - The Padres returned home after a disappointing road trip (again) to host the Angels.  Jaime Barria started for L.A. against Blake Snell.

Xander Bogaerts kicked off the game by launching a three-run blast in the first and the Padres led 3-0 after one.

Jake Cronenworth singled in the fourth to score Bogaerts and the Padres led 4-0 after four.

Taylor Ward put the Angels on the board in the sixth with an RBI single to right.  Mike Trout singled to score Mike Moustakas to cut the lead in half, but Manny Machado singled to left in the home half to score Juan Soto.  Cronenworth hit a sac fly to deep right to score Fernando Tatis Jr. and the Padres led 6-2 after six.

Luis Rengifo cut the lead in half again with a solo homer to right in the seventh, but the Padres added on in the home half with a two-RBI line drive to right by Tatis Jr.  Cronenworth hit a fly that dropped for a single to score Tatis Jr. and the Padres led 9-3 after seven.

Tatis Jr. singled in the eighth to score Trent Grisham and the Padres finally started a series off strong with a 10-3 win.
