August 26, 2023 (Milwaukee) - The Padres were Brewed yesterday. They tried again today with Pedro Avila on the mound against Freddy Peralta for Milwaukee.
Xander Bogaerts opened the scoring with a towering homer in the second and the Padres led 1-0 after two.
Andruw Monasterio singled in the fifth to score Mark Canha and tie the game. Monasterio scored and William Contreras doubled to score two. Carlos Santana doubled to score Contreras and the Brewers jumped ahead 5-1 after five.
Manny Machado helped a little with a single in the sixth that scored Ha-Seong Kim and the Brewers led 5-2 after six.
Juan Soto helped with a two-run homer in the eighth, but the Brewers prevailed and took the series with a 5-4 win.
UP NEXT
The rubber game tomorrow is at 11:10 a.m. Michael Wacha starts against Adrian Houser for the Brewers.
