September 10, 2023 (Houston) - It was a long shot, but the Padres tried for the series today.  Matt Waldron started against J.P. France for Houston.

They didn’t stand a chance.  Chas McCormick scored on a passed ball and Jose Altuve knocked out a two-run homer in the third and the Astros led 3-0 after three.

The slaughter was just beginning.  Kyle Tucker scored on an error in the fourth and the Astros led 4-0 after four.

Matt Carpenter tried to interrupt with a solo homer in the sixth, but the Stros kept hitting.  Tucker singled in the home half to score Alex Bregman, Jose Abreu singled to score Tucker, Yainer Diaz singled to score Abreu.  With the bases loaded, Altuve was hit by a pitch, allowing Michael Brantley to score from third.  McCormick scored on an error, Yordan Alvarez and Bregman hit sac flies to score Diaz and Altuve.  Tucker tripled to score Jeremy Pena for the finishing touch.  The bloodshed was interrupted by Eguy Rosario’s solo homer in the seventh and Houston destroyed the Padres 12-2 for the series win.
