ECM PADRES REPORT: PADRES MIRACULOUSLY GET SWEEP

July 30, 2023 (San Diego) - The Padres went for the sweep against the Rangers today.  Cody Bradford started for Texas against Blake Snell.

This one wasn’t so easy.  Xander Bogaerts hit a sac fly in the third to score Ha-Seong Kim and the Padres led 1-0 after three.

 
But in the fourth, Leody Taveras singled to score Ezequiel Duran to tie the game, but Gary Sanchez homered in the bottom of the fourth to reclaim the lead.  Juan Soto doubled to score Fernando Tatis Jr. and the Padres led 3-1 after four.
 
Gary Sanchez added on with a solo homer in the fifth and the Padres led 4-1 after five.
 
Marcus Semien brought the Rangers closer in the sixth with a two-RBI single.  The Padres held onto a 4-3 lead after six.
 
Tatis Jr. added some insurance in the eighth with an RBI single that scored Trent Grisham and the Padres escaped with a 5-3 sweep.
 
UP NEXT
 
The Padres take a vacation to Denver for a few days.  Game one tomorrow is at 5:40 p.m.  Seth Lugo starts against Austin Gomber for the Rockies.
