June 29, 2017 (San Diego) - The Padres put in good offensive work last night and stopped the Braves’ rally to even the series at one win apiece.  They had the chance to take the series tonight as the Braves’ Jaime Garcia faced Dinelson Lamet.

The game was a classic and really good pitchers’ duel to start until the third.  Jose Pirela singled and Manuel Margot drove him in with an RBI double.  Pirela scored from first base and the Padres took the lead.  Then Wil Myers did what he does best:  blasted a bomb to the Western Metal Supply Co. building and the Padres suddenly led 3-0.

Hunter Renfroe joined Myers’ home run party with a two-run blast of his own to straightaway center and the Padres led 5-0.

Margot added his second RBI of the night with a single in the seventh that scored Matt Szczur.  A spectacular game from the Padres offensively, defensively and on the mound and they're rewarded with a 6-0s win and a 2-1 series win over a team they were swept by in April.

It’s back to NL West rivalry action for the weekend when the Dodgers come to San Diego tomorrow night.  First pitch is at 7:10 p.m.  Alex Wood starts for LA against Clayton Richard.
