ECM PADRES REPORT: PADRES SHUT OUT GUARDIANS FOR SERIES W

June 14, 2023 (San Diego) - The Padres had a good welcome-home game yesterday as they defeated the Guardians in game one.  They tried to take the series today with Aaron Civale on the mound for Cleveland against Michael Wacha.

Fernando Tatis Jr. led off the first with a solo homer and the Padres led 1-0 after one.

 
Manny Machado knocked out a solo homer in the third and the Padres led 2-0 after three.
 
Tatis Jr. scored on a wild pitch in the sixth and Juan Soto homered to left and the Padres led 4-0 after six.
 
Nelson Cruz hit a giant blast to left in the eighth and the Padres dropped the Guardians for the series win, 5-0.

The rubber game tomorrow is at 5:40 p.m.  Logan Allen starts for Cleveland against Yu Darvish.
