August 2, 2017 (San Diego) - Believe it or not, last night, thought it was only game one of the series against the Twins, the Padres won the series--because it’s only two games!  The Pads went for the sweep today against Ervin Santana, the ace of the Twins’ staff, against Luis Perdomo.

Pitcher magic got the better of the Padres today.  Santana singled in the second, scoring two runs.  Eduardo Escobar drove in two more runs with a single to left and the Twins led 4-0.

Jose Pirela helped the Padres cut that lead in half with a two-run homer to center in the fourth to make the score 4-2.

Miguel Sano pulled the Twins away with a solo homer in the sixth to seal the 5-2 win for the Twins.  The Padres split the series and go on the road semi-pleased with themselves.

The Padres get Thursday off and take a trip to Pittsburgh for a weekend series with the Pirates.  First pitch is at 4:05 p.m. Friday night.  Travis Wood starts against Ivan Nova for the Pirates.
