March 21, 2023 (Peoria, Ariz.) - After a day off, the Padres are back in action against the Rockies. Peter Lambert started for the Rockies against Michael Wacha.
Xander Bogaerts led the charge in the first inning with a double that scored Fernando Tatis Jr. Matt Carpenter singled to score Jake Cronenworth. Bogaerts scored and the Padres struck for three runs right away to lead 3-0 after one.
Carpenter and Manny Machado singled in the second to score two and the Padres led 7-0 after two.
Carpenter singled to score Tatis Jr. in the fourth and the Padres led 8-0 after four.
Brenton Doyle doubled in the seventh to score Coco Montes. Jameson Hannah singled to score Doyle. The Padres led 8-2 after seven.
The Padres got some extra insurance in the eighth. Brett Sullivan singled to score Brandon Dixon. Wyatt Hofman singled to score Matthew Batten. Luis Liberato singled to score Sullivan. Pedro Severino singled to score Hoffman. Liberato scored on a wild pitch. Taylor Kohlwey doubled to score Severino and the Padres stoned the Rockies 14-2.
