ECM PADRES REPORT: PADRES STYMIED IN NORTHWEST

August 8, 2023 (Seattle) - After being destroyed by the Dodgers, the Padres went back to the American League.  Nick Martinez started tonight’s game one against the Mariners against Logan Gilbert for Seattle.

The Mariners finally broke the ice in the fifth on a balk by Ray Kerr that allowed Cal Raleigh to walk and Dylan Moore to score from third and Seattle led 1-0 after five.

 
Moore tripled in the sixth to score Tom Murphy and the Mariners took a 2-0 win to open the series.
 
UP NEXT
 
The rubber game is tomorrow at 6:40 p.m.  Yu Darvish starts against Bryan Woo for the Mariners.
