June 27, 2017 (San Diego) - Though they didn’t get the sweep, the Padres had a very good series against the Tigers.  Now it was back to National League play with a fellow bottom-of-the-barrel team, the Atlanta Braves.  The last time the Padres faced the Braves, the Braves christened their new stadium with a four-game sweep of America’s most dismal baseball team.  But tonight, the Braves were in San Diego and rookie Sean Newcomb started for them against Jhoulys Chacin.

The Padres kept it scoreless through four, but in the fourth after Matt Adams’ leadoff double, Johan Camargo hit a ground-rule double to left center to score Adams and Tyler Flowers and the Braves jumped out to a 2-0 lead.

They added one more in the eighth with a sac fly from Nick Markakis that scored Ender Inciarte to take a 3-0 lead and shutout the Padres for a game one win.

Game two is tomorrow night at 7:10 p.m.  Bartolo Colon, the man, the myth and the legend, will start for the Braves against Luis Perdomo.
