April 5, 2018 (San Diego) - Well, looks like one win was too much work for the Padres because they went right back to losing last night.  But they’d try for a series split with the Rockies today with Tyler Anderson on the mound for Colorado against Joey Lucchesi.

Shockingly, this game was a pitcher’s duel.  Lucchesi shone in five innings with seven strikeouts.  The Rockies helped Anderson out of several jams too.

But we all knew it was too good to be true.  We all knew it.  Because in the ninth, Brad Hand loaded the bases and walked in a run to give the Rockies the lead.  D.J. LeMahieu singled to right and scored two more to kick Hand out and give Colorado a 3-0 lead.

Manuel Margot got his revenge in the home half of the ninth with a blast to left out of the park for a home run to put the Padres on the board.  But the rally was only good for one run and the Rockies take three out of four from the Padres with a 3-1 run.

The Padres embark on their first road trip of 2018 tomorrow night when they travel to Houston to take on the defending world champion Astros in interleague this weekend.  Knowing both teams, it’ll probably be the most predictable series ever, but we’ll try and give you some coverage.  Luis Perdomo starts tomorrow’s game one against Lance McCullers Jr. for the Astros.  First pitch is at 5:10 p.m.
