May 1, 2023 (San Diego) - The Padres kicked off May after a weird up and down April, but after a two-game sweep.  They kicked off the month with a series at home against the Reds.  Luke Weaver started for Cincinnati against Blake Snell.

Juan Soto kicked things off in the first with a two-RBI double and the Padres led 2-0 after one.

Stuart Fairchild erased it with a two-RBI double of his own in the third and we were tied at two after three.

Nick Senzel gave the Reds their first lead with a solo homer in the fourth to left, but in the home half, Ha-Seong Kim’s leadoff double led to Trent Grisham’s game-tying RBI double to right.  Unfortunately, a double play ball ended the inning and we were tied at three after four.

Kim broke the ice in the fifth with a three-run blast to left and the Padres led 6-3 after five.

Manny Machado added a two-RBI single to right in the eighth and the Padres had themselves a nice win at home, 8-3.
