ECM PADRES REPORT: W IN WASHINGTON

May 23, 2023 (Washington, D.C.) - The Padres are out of town until June and their first stop is Washington.  Yu Darvish started game one tonight against ex-Padre Mackenzie Gore for the Nats.

Xander Bogaerts blasted a two-run homer in the first and the Padres led 2-0 after one.

 
Brandon Dixon hit a solo homer in the fourth, but the Nationals stormed back with a two-run homer from C.J. Abrams in the fifth and a solo homer by Lane Thomas that tied the game at three after five.
 
Rougned Odor regained the lead for the Padres with a score in the sixth and the Friars led 4-3 after six.
 
Jake Cronenworth belted a two-run homer in the seventh and Juan Soto hit a solo homer and the Padres led 7-3 after seven.
 
Joey Meneses doubled in the eighth to score Luis García, but the Padres prevailed and won their second straight, 7-4.
