May 15, 2023 (San Diego) - After a weird, lackluster road trip, the Padres finally returned home to host the Royals for three games.  Brad Keller started tonight’s game one for Kansas City against Michael Wacha.

Fernando Tatis Jr. kicked things off by scoring on a wild pitch in the first and the Padres led 1-0 after one.

Tatis Jr. added on with a single in the second that scored Trent Grisham.  With the bases loaded, Manny Machado was hit by a pitch that allowed Austin Nola to score from third and the Padres led 3-0 after two.

Ha-Seong Kim singled to center to score Xander Bogaerts in the seventh and the Padres secured the 4-0 win to open the series.
