September 25, 2017 (Los Angeles) - Petco Park is closed down for the year.  The Padres headed out on a Californian road trip to close out their year, starting with the Dodgers.  Travis Wood started against Yu Darvish for LA.

Wood did what he usually does when he starts:  loaded the bases in the first inning, which provided the perfect mise en scene for Logan Forsythe to hit a double to left that scored three runs on a single hit to give the Dodgers to take a 3-0 lead straight out of the gate.

Chris Taylor continued the Dodgers’ reign of terror in the second with a sac fly that put LA up 4-0.

Forsythe added a solo homer in the third to make it the third consecutive scoring inning for the Dodgers, who now led 5-0.

Hunter Renfroe finally put the Padres on the board in the fifth with a double that scored Cory Spangenberg to make it 5-1.

But Austin Barnes pulled LA away with a three-run bomb in the home half of the fifth and the Dodgers jumped up 8-1.

The Padres got an E for Effort this game as Carlos Asuaje singled in the eighth to score Austin Hedges.  Matt Szczur scored to make it 8-3.

But Rob Segedin singled in the home half the eighth to score Yasmani Grandal and the Dodgers took game one with a 9-3 win.

Game two is tomorrow night at 7:10 p.m. with Dinelson Lamet on the mound against Alex Wood for the Dodgers.
