FELONY ROBBERY AND ASSAULT SUSPECT ARRESTED IN CAMPO

May 31, 2014 (Lake Moreno)—A felon suspected of pepper spraying a clerk during a robbery and seriously injuring a man after striking him in the face with brass knuckles has been arrested.  James Ibarra, 29, was taken into custody on May 29 in the 2900 block of Evergreen Street in the Lake Morena area of Campo.

A Be on the Lookout bulletin had been issued for Ibarra on May 30 in connection with a robbery that occurred on May 24 in San Marcos.  According to Lt. Tom Poulin, Ibarra “pepper sprayed a clerk as he was confronted stealing merchandise.”  He then fled in a white, older Hyundai.

Ibarra is also suspect of punching a male acquaintance in the face with a pair of brass knuckles in front o of the Malt Shop in Campo on May 29. The victim suffered serious facial injuries. 

Tipped off that Ibarra was in the Campo area, deputies located him and arrested him without incident. He will be booked into San Diego County Jail for Assault with a Deadly Weapon, Robbery and Spraying an individual with a Caustic Chemical.
