November 11, 2011 (Descanso)  -- Want to start your holiday shopping early?  Check out one the many unique gift items while welcoming in the winter season at the Descanso Arts and Crafts Fair. The event takes place Saturday, November 19 at the Descanso Town Hall, 24536 Viejas Grade, in the mountain town of Descanso from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

 
The event is free and open to the public.
 
  

There will be a drawing to benefit the Historic Descanso Town Hall, and live music will be provided by Paul Nichols. Beverages and refreshments will be served. Come enjoy a day in the mountains.

 
The fair features a wide variety of handmade art in distinctive styles by some of the county’s top artists.
 
The festival presents holiday shoppers an alternative to crowded mall shopping and offers a vast selection for those seeking unique gift items including seasonal holiday items.  The event showcases the handmade work and wares of independent crafts people and artists and features affordable and environmentally friendly items of all kinds.
 
The artistic media represents paintings, photography, jewelry, home, ranch, and garden décor, porcelain ware, hand-sewn apparel and linens, custom embroidery, jams, preserves and specialty foods and so much more.

Phoebe Burnham, noted painter, will be among the artists exhibiting works, including canvas prints of Descanso and Mexico scenes at the craft fair.

Turn left at Riverside Dr, continue 0.9 miles
Turn left at Viejas Grade Rd (Perkins Store), continue 0.2 miles, the town hall will be on your right.
