THE CAREGIVERS’ JOURNEY: A LONG AND WINDING PATH

By Marsha Kay Seff

March 1, 2013 (San Diego) -- Becoming your parents’ parent conjures up pictures of “tangled apron strings.”

As a child, the strings seemed well-defined.  You needed your parents and their role was to fulfill your needs.  Now, with your parents aging and leaning increasingly on you, the apron strings are tangled and wound tightly around you.

This role reversal isn’t easy for any of you.  Your parents, no doubt, are fighting furiously to cling to their dignity and independence.  At the same time, you’re pulled between the demands of your own family and the need to help your parents.

by Ariele Johannson

November 17, 2012 (Alpine) --Viejas Ice Rink formally opened its fifth season yesterday along with specific extended holiday hours at Viejas Outlet Center.

Now, when shopping, visitors are treated to views of excited skaters making their way around the cool, white ice rink, skating to the sounds of favorite Christmas melodies. Bedecked at one end with the traditional giant, decorated Christmas tree, the ice rink this year also has festive café lights. One of the decorative creeks nicely reflects the tree as you walk in from the east side of the Center.

One of the shops that many La Mesans agree is exceptional is Mostly Mission, a shop that carries quality merchandise and accessories for the craftsman style environment. The store first opened in 2007, and has recently moved from a 850 square feet location to a place up the street almost three times the size.
