HOMICIDE INVESTIGATION INTO SUSPICIOUS DEATH IN LAKESIDE CAR FIRE

Update February 25, 2017 :  The victim has been identified as Santee resident Andrea Daves, 33. Cause and manner of death will be determined by the medical examiner.

February 23, 2017 (Lakeside) – Sheriff’s deputies responded to a vehicle fire on a cul-de-sac in the 11200 block of Mast Boulevard in Lakeside last night shortly after 11 p.m.  They found a vehicle fully engulfed in flames.

After Lakeside Fire Dept. firefighters doused the blaze, deputies discovered a deceased person in the vehicle.  According to 10 News, the vehicle was an SUV.

“Based on the totality of the circumstances, investigators with the Sheriff's Homicide Detail and the Sheriff's Arson Unit responded and took investigative responsibility for the case. The incident is currently being investigated as a suspicious death.,” says Lieutenant Kenneth Nelson with the Sheriff’s homicide detail.

The Medical Examiner's Office will be conducting an autopsy to will determine the cause and manner of death and identify the victim.
