October 15, 2023 (Santee) -- Santee Fire Department held its Open House on Oct. 7, attracting hundreds of visitors. Children enjoyed interactive activities including face painting and games, as well as boarding fire engines, squirting water with a fire hose and more.

Agencies with booths included CERT, the City of Santee, and the Burn Institute. Tours of the station were offered. Later, the San Diego Sheriff K-9 demonstrated a mock apprehension of a suspect.

Sparky entertained as Santee’s fire search and rescue dog. Numerous large fire engines were present, including the large ladder truck that demonstrated use of the ladder to guests.
