September 1, 2011 (LA Mesa) -- Speeders, beware.  On August 21, the La Mesa Police Department was notified that it was the recipient of a grant award from the San Diego County Law Enforcement Foundation. Each year the generous organization awards law enforcement in San Diego County with grant funds to be used toward an agencies life saving efforts.

The San Diego County Law Enforcement Foundation awarded the La Mesa Police Department’s “Traffic Unit” the funds to purchase 2 new portable speed measuring radar devices. Currently in La Mesa, speeding motorists cause a significant percentage of the injury and sometimes deadly traffic collisions. With the use of the new equipment, the La Mesa Police Department will be better equipped to monitor the speeds of motorists and take appropriate enforcement action.

The La Mesa Police Department would like to thank the San Diego County Law Enforcement Foundation for it’s continuing efforts and dedication to making our communities a safer place.
