September 24, 2019 (El Cajon) – A 20-year-old motorcyclist from El Cajon has been rushed by ambulance to Sharp Memorial Hospital in San Diego after sustaining life-threatening injuries in a collision today at 2 p.m.

An 89-year-old Alpine man was driving a 2010 Chrysler Town and Country on Olde Hwy 80 west of Pecan Park Lane stopped along the north shoulder of the street. “For reasons still under investigation, the driver of the Chrysler attempted to make a U-turn from the northside of the road directly into the path of the motorcycle,” says Officer Travis Garrow with the California Highway Patrol.

The motorcyclist, who was driving a 2013 Honda motorcycle, tried to avoid a collision. He was ejected onto the roadway and slid into the path of the Chrysler, then was struck by the vehicle.

At this time, it is not believed alcohol and or drugs were a factor in this collision, says Officer Garrow.
