August 2, 2016 (San Diego) - The San Diego State women's lacrosse team was honored by the Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) for outstanding academic achievement, the organization announced. The Aztecs were named an IWLCA Academic Honor Squad for posting a grade point average over 3.0 during the 2015-16 school year.

This is the second season the Aztecs have received the honor after previously earning the academic accolade in 2014.

Additionally, Katrina Reeves, a junior majoring in child development and Anna Cholewczynski, a senior majoring in chemistry, were honored for garnering a cumulative GPA of 3.50 or greater.

Following the 2016 campaign, the Scarlet and Black matched a program record when nine Aztecs were named to the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation (MPSF) All-Academic Team. Cholewczynski and classmate Nicole Lescano, redshirt junior Lauren Gierke, juniors Sarah Dorl, Vickie Porter, Reeves and Alex Watson, and sophomores Cierra Kocik and Mackenzie Lech were honored by the MPSF for being at least a sophomore academically, attaining a 3.0 grade point average or higher, competing in at least half of SDSU's games this season and completing a full year at SDSU prior to the 2016 season.

San Diego State recorded a 4-11 mark in 2016, going 3-6 in conference play. The Aztecs executed their most difficult schedule to date, facing four opponents ranked among the top 12 in the nation (No. 2/2 North Carolina, No. 11/10 Stony Brook, No. 7/8 USC, No. 12/8 Stanford), and allowed the second fewest goals in program history (190).
