March 1, 2023 (Peoria, Ariz.) - The Padres started March in Peoria against the Rangers. Glenn Otto started for Texas against Nick Martinez.
Trent Grisham put the Padres on the second with a double that scored Jake Cronenworth. Alfonso Rivas hit a sac fly that scored Austin Nola. After a pitching change by the Rangers, Juan Soto added on with a single that scored Grisham and the Padres jumped out to a 3-0 lead after two.
Tim Lopes added on in the fourth with a double to score Brandon Dixon and the Padres led 4-0 after four.
Nelson Cruz finally made his presence known on the Padres with a solo homer in the fifth and the Padres led 5-0 after five.
Jordan Heim put the Rangers on the board in the seventh with a solo homer and the Padres won 3-1 when the game was suspended due to rain.

The Padres are in their own training facility tomorrow, but will be the away team as the Mariners host. First pitch is at 12:10 p.m. starts against Logan Gilbert for Seattle.
