May 26, 2023 (New York) - The Padres had a decent time in Washington, but now, it’s time for a challenge as they went to the Bronx for the weekend to face the Yankees.  Grossmont High alum Joe Musgrove started against Randy Vasquez for New York.

Surprisingly, the Padres got the upper hand.  Juan Soto blasted a two-run homer in the fifth and the Friars led 2-0 after five.

Fernando Tatis Jr. added a two-run homer of his own in the sixth and Gleyber Torres scored in the home half and the Padres led 4-1 after six.

Rougned Odor added the finishing touch with a single that scored Soto in the ninth and the Padres took game one over the Yanks 5-1.
