ECM PADRES REPORT: PADRES COME OUT SWINGING IN SECOND HALF

July 14, 2023 (Philadelphia) - The Padres begin the second half of the season four games below .500 in Philadelphia.  Yu Darvish started tonight against Cristopher Sanchez for the Phillies.

Gary Sanchez hit a homer and Fernando Tatis Jr. hit a two-run homer in the third and the Padres led 3-0 after three.

 
Alec Bohm doubled in the fourth to score Bryson Stott and the Padres led 3-1 after four. 
 
Manny Machado hit a solo homer in the sixth and the Padres led 4-1 after six.
 
Brandon Dixon added on with an RBI single in the seventh that scored Jake Cronenworth, Ha-Seong Kim did the same to score Dixon and the Padres led 6-1 after seven.
 
Juan Soto added the finishing touches with a two-run bomb in the ninth and the Padres started the second half strong with an 8-3 win, interrupted by a solo homer by J.T. Realmuto and a run from Bohm.
 
UP NEXT
 
Both teams will play a doubleheader tomorrow.  Game two is at 10:05 a.m. with game three at 4:05 p.m.  Blake Snell starts against Taijuan Walker for the Phillies in game two and Ryan Weathers against Ranger Suarez in game three.
