ONE DEAD AFTER BEING STRUCK BY VEHICLE IN LEMON GROVE

July 22, 2024 (Lemon Grove) -- On July 22, 2024, at about 2:15 a.m., Deputies received a radio call of a hit and run in the 8200 block of Broadway in Lemon Grove. Deputies arrived two minutes later and discovered a 44-year-old white male lying in the center lane in the 8300 block of Broadway. The male was conscious and breathing when they arrived. Paramedics arrived and transported the male to the hospital. Unfortunately, while at the hospital, the male succumbed to his injuries.

 
Witnesses reported the male was standing in the roadway in front of an unknown vehicle, speaking with the occupants of the vehicle. A few seconds later, the vehicle accelerated, intentionally struck the male and fled from the area.
 
Sheriff's Homicide investigators are working to gather more information to determine the circumstances and motivation behind this death. The investigation is ongoing. At this time, there is no confirmed suspect information.
