CAPIO, PRSA and AMCP recognize Advanced Water Purification Video

East County News Service

June 2, 2016 (Santee) - Padre Dam Municipal Water District was nationally honored with a Bronze Anvil Award of Commendation from the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA), an Award of Distinction from the California Association of Public Information Officials (CAPIO) and a Platinum Hermes Creative Award from the Association of Marketing and Communication Professionals (AMCP) for its video, Water, Too Good to Waste

"The Water, Too Good to Waste video is instrumental to providing the public with a better understanding of why the Advanced Water Purification Program is essential for East San Diego County,” said Allen Carlisle, CEO and General Manager of Padre Dam. “Creating a video that is both educational and compelling on a complex topic is difficult but we have succeeded in producing an exceptional educational tool that elementary students up to adults can use to learn about Padre Dam’s Advanced Water Purification program,” added Carlisle.

The six-minute video explains the reasons and benefits for the East County Advanced Water Purification Program and how it will treat recycled water through four treatment steps using state-of-the-art technology to create a new, local, sustainable and drought proof drinking water supply. The program is expected to meet approximately 25-30 percent of East County’s current drinking water demands. To view the video, please visit http://EastCountyAWP. com/about-the-program/.

The Advanced Water Purification Program is a potential new source of drinking water that would be locally controlled, reliable, drought proof and environmentally sound. The program is the result of many years of strategic, long-term planning and provides numerous benefits, as well as serving as a model of sustainable water supply for other water agencies throughout California and the nation. This water recycling opportunity is a collaborative partnership between Padre Dam Municipal Water District, Helix Water District, County of San Diego and the City of El Cajon. Padre Dam offers free tours of the Advanced Water Purification Demonstration Facility, which has produced approximately 100,000 gallons of purified water each day for testing purposes to ensure it meets the public health objectives to earn approval from the State Water Resources Control Board’s Division of Drinking Water. Visit www.EastCountyAWP.com for more information and to sign up for a tour.

The PRSA Anvil Award is a national award that recognizes and honors the very best in communications programs executed each year.  The CAPIO awards honor outstanding public agency communications programs in California and the AMCP Hermes Creative Awards are international awards that recognize creative marketing and communications.
