August 5, 2017 (San Diego) -- Really, what chance is there to obtain a roster spot with the San Diego Padres? What about that football team that used to play in town?

Slim to none? Not according to a club that is a 14-time national champion.

The San Diego Sockers announced not one, but two tryout camps to earn a berth with the world's greatest professional indoor/arena soccer team, plus berths on the Sockers reserve team too.

Just visit the Sockers website (www.sdsockers.com), fill out the form, along with a listing of your experience, plus a check for the tryout fee of $75.00. Each participant will receive a courtesy T-shirt.

"With so many new people with international experience coming to San Diego or Tijuana, there are many players that we simply have no idea are in the area," said Sockers co-owner/head coach Phil Salvagio. "Each year, we discover some gems -- yes, some have even made the first unit."

The dates of each Sockers tryout session are Aug. 12-13 and Sept. 16-17, running from 9:30 a.m. to noon on the team's practice field, located on the north (Sea World) side of the Valley View Casino Center (formerly the SD Sports Arena).

Hey, even if you don't get signed to a professional contract, you can enjoy the memories:  actually trying out for a real, pro team and purchasing the most expensive T-shirt you ever bought.

For further information, visit the club website, or call (866) 799-GOAL.
