August 25 (Sunday, 4:00 p.m.) — Local author, humorist and columnist Richard Ledrer will be on stage in a concert performed by the San Diego Street Choir for benefit of our homeless citizens. The venue will be the First Presbyterian Church of San Diego, 320 Date Street. For information, please call 858 729 5511. Admission is free, and worth every penny.

 

August 25 (Sunday, 2:00 p.m.) — WEEKENDS WITH LOCALS PROGRAM will be hosting Sylvia Melena, author of Supportive Accountability: How to Inspire People and Improve Performance.

August 26 (Monday, 7:30 p.m.) — Warwick's will host T. Greenwood as she discusses and signs her new book, Keeping Lucy. Greenwood's novels have sold over 250,000 copies. She has received grants from the Sherwood Anderson Foundation, Christopher Isherwood Foundation, National Endowment for the Arts, and the Maryland State Arts Council.

In 1969, Ginny Richardson was heartbroken when Lucy, her infant daughter born with Down Syndrome, was taken from her.

August 27 (Tuesday, 7:00 p.m.) — Cora Carmack signs Rage. This is a ticketed event. Carmack is a New York Times and USA Today bestselling author. Her previous adult romance titles include the Losing It, Rusk University, and Muse series. Her books have been translated into more than a dozen languages around the world. Roar was Cora’s debut Young Adult fantasy, and Rage is the second in the Stormheart series.

August 28 (Wednesday, 1:00 to 2:30 p.m.) — The Uniqueness of San Diego at the Point Loma Library. This engaging show will explain why San Diego is arguably America’s most unique county. The instructor will be Dr. Philip Pryde, professor emeritus at SDSU, whose book San Diego an Introduction to the Region is now in its 5th edition. A book signing will follow the presentation.

August 31 (Saturday, 5:15 p.m.) — Louise Penny, a former CBC radio journalist, is the #1 New York Times and Globe and Mail bestselling author of the Chief Inspector Armand Gamache novels will discuss her new book, A Better Man.

This is a ticketed event at the Balboa Theatre, 868 Fourth Ave., San Diego, CA 92101. You will receive a pre-signed copy of Louise's book when you check in.

It’s Gamache’s first day back as head of the homicide department, a job he temporarily shares with his previous second-in-command, Jean-Guy Beauvoir.
