RED FLAG WARNING ISSUED FOR DRY LIGHTNING STRIKES

September 30, 2010 (San Diego) – The National Weather Service has issued a red flag warning for dry lightning across San Diego County through 3 p.m. today, continuing in high desert areas through 11 p.m.

Lightning strikes have diminished to 20 strikes every 15 minutes but are likely to increase again late this afternoon and evening. Wind gust to 47 mph have been reported. Rainfall reports near or above a tenth of an inch have ben reported at elevations above 3700 feet.
