October 24, 2017 (San Diego) - As San Diego continues to pour cement over the gaping hole the Chargers left in San Diego sports, a lacrosse team enters the fray.  The San Diego Seals are set for their inaugural season next year.

The Seals, who were formally dubbed and given a logo today at a press conference at La Jolla Cove Hotel and Suites by team officials, will begin play in the National Lacrosse League in 2018 at the Valley View Casino Center.

"We wanted a name that was inherent to San Diego," Steve Govett, team president, said. "The Seals name acknowledges the marine mammals that live along our coastline, and it pays tribute to the brave men and women who help keep us safe and protect our freedom."

The expansion team is owned by billionaire and Alibaba Group vice chairman Joseph Tsai, who said earlier this year, "I have a strong passion for lacrosse, and look forward to bringing the NLL to San Diego.  Our team is committed to creating a fan-first experience and to being an integral part of the local community."

Deposits for season tickets are now on sale starting at $50.
