March 1, 2018 (San Diego) - The San Diego State football released its 2018 schedule on Thursday. Game times and television arrangements, including moves to non-Saturdays will be announced at a later date.

The Aztecs finished 2017 with a 10-3 record, their school-record third consecutive season with at least 10 victories. SDSU is one of just seven schools in the nation to win at least 10 games in three consecutive seasons (also Alabama, Clemson, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State and Wisconsin). San Diego State is scheduled to return seven starters on offense and seven on defense, along with its kicker and punter.

The Aztecs open their 2018 slate on Aug. 31 at Stanford. SDSU defeated the then No. 19 Cardinal, 20-17, last year and has won three consecutive games against Pac-12 programs. Stanford was 9-5 last year, including a 7-2 mark in the Pac-12 North and a spot in the Pac-12 championship game.

San Diego State makes its first of three straight home games on Sept. 8 against Sacramento State, which won its final three games last year en route to a 7-4 season. Surprisingly, the Aztecs and Hornets have never met.

SDSU then welcomes Arizona State to SDCCU Stadium on Sept. 16. Last year San Diego State downed the Sun Devils, 30-20, in Tempe, winning for the first time in the series (1-10-1). ASU was 7-6 last season (6-3 in Pac-12 play), culminating with a 52-31 loss to No. 24 North Carolina State in the Hyundai Sun Bowl.

The Aztecs finish up their homestand and their non-conference schedule Sept. 22 against Eastern Michigan, a team that went 5-7 in 2017 and 3-5 in the Mid-American Conference. SDSU and the Eagles will be meeting for the first time on Sept. 22.

After its open week on Sept. 29, San Diego State kicks off the Mountain West season at Boise State on Oct. 6. Last year in San Diego, the Broncos upset the then No. 19/18 Aztecs 31-14. BS went onto finish 11-3 on the season and 7-1 in league play, capturing the MW title and snapping the Aztecs’ two-year championship run. San Diego State will look to even the series with Boise State at 3-3.

SDSU returns to America’s Finest City for its next two games, including Oct. 13 vs. Air Force and Oct. 20 against San José State. San Diego State downed the Falcons 28-24 last year in Colorado Springs, Colo., for its seventh consecutive victory in the series. AFA ended up going 5-7 overall and 4-4 in MW action, and leads the all-time meetings with the Aztecs, 19-16

SDSU also beat the Spartans 52-7 in San Jose, Calif. last season for its fifth straight win in the series. San Diego State leads the all-time series, 20-19-2. SJSU ended up 2-11 overall and 1-7 in league play.

The Aztecs then travel to Reno, Nev., to meet Nevada on Oct. 27, a team they beat 42-23 last year at SDCCU Stadium. SDSU has won each of the last two meetings with the Wolf Pack and lead the all-time series, 7-3. Nevada was 3-9 overall a year ago and 3-5 in the MW.

San Diego State follows with a road contest at New Mexico on Nov. 3. Last year in San Diego, the Aztecs rolled to a 35-10 win in the regular-season finale for their sixth straight win against the Lobos. SDSU leads the all-time series 26-15. The loss gave UNM a 3-9 overall record (1-7 MW).

San Diego State then plays host to UNLV on Nov. 10 after downing the Rebels 41-10 in Las Vegas last year for the seventh win in eight meetings. The Aztecs, who are 13-3 against UNLV since 2002 and 18-9 all-time in the series, will face a Rebel team that just missed becoming bowl eligible in 2017 at 5-7 overall (4-4 MW).

SDSU plays its final regular-season road game a week later (Nov. 17) at Fresno State. San Diego State dropped a 27-3 decision to the Bulldogs at home last year as FS went from 1-11 overall in 2016 (0-8 MW) to 10-4 (7-1 MW) in 2017, ultimately falling to Boise State in the MW Championship game, but beating Houston, 33-27, in the Hawai’i Bowl. The Aztecs still lead the all-time series with FS, 29-24-3.

For the fifth consecutive year, SDSU ends its regular season at home, taking on Hawai’i on Nov. 24. San Diego State beat the Rainbow Warriors 28-7 last year in Honolulu for its sixth consecutive win in the series and making the Aztecs 21-9-2 all-time vs. UH. Hawai’i is coming off a 3-9 season and 1-7 mark in league play.

The sixth conference championship game will take place on Dec. 1 and will match the winner of the West Division (San Diego State, Fresno State, Hawai’i, Nevada, San José State and Nevada) and the Mountain Division (Air Force, Boise State, Colorado State, New Mexico, Utah State and Wyoming) at the highest-ranked division champion.

San Diego State is accepting new account deposits on 2018 season tickets through the Aztec Ticket Office, while current season-ticket holders can also renew their tickets for the 2018 campaign. Fans can purchase tickets through GoAztecs.com, over the phone by calling (619) 283-7378, or by visiting Qualcomm Stadium's Window E between 9 a.m. PT and 5 p.m. PT.
