November 3, 2010 (San Diego’s East County) – Amid an era of tight budgets, Julian voters passed a school bond measure with 59% of the vote (55% was needed to win).

Former district superintendent Norma Hernandez had a substantial lead over incumbent Yolanda Salcido for a seat on the Southwestern College board. Tim Nader and Terri Valladolid were the top voter-getters for two other board seats at Southwestern.

In Palomar’s community-college district, incumbent Mark Evilsizer and Paul McNamara were leading in the race for two seats on the board, with incumbent Michele Nelson trailing.

A trio of incumbents—Robert Shield, Jim Kelly, and Dick Hoy were leading by hefty margins in the Grossmont Union High School district.
