October 5, 2023 (Seattle) - The No. 22 Aztec men’s soccer team (6-2-2, 0-2-1) fell at Washington 3-1 Thursday evening. SDSU struck first but then surrendered three second half goals in a nine-minute span.

“We had a bad 20-minute span where UW turned it up and we couldn’t turn the tide,” Head coach Ryan Hopkins said after the match. “It’s a tough one but we’ve got to move on and figure out how to get a result at Oregon State Sunday.”

Prior to the Huskies’ three-goal barrage, the Aztecs had allowed just one goal through the first 876 minutes of the year.

The Aztecs scored in the 24th minute. Rommee Jaridly threw it into Alexander Levengood who then immediately passed it back. Jaridly then dribbled to the endline and sent a cross into the box which Austin Brummett headed in for his team-high seventh goal of the season.

Washington’s first goal came in the 67th minute. They then would score again in the 74th and 76th minute.

The Huskies outshot SDSU 14-5 on the night and 10-2 in the second half.
