Nyjari McNeil sets SDSU freshman record for the 800

March 23, 2019 (San Diego) - The SDSU track and field team wrapped up the annual 41st Aztec Invitational on a high note. Callista Fletcher took first in the 200 meter dash, Bonnie Draxler continued her outstanding senior captain with another first place finish in the pole vault and Nyjari McNeil won the 800 meter run and set a new SDSU record for freshmen.
McNeil finished in 2:07.20, good for the freshman record but also for the fifth best time in school history.
Fletcher finish the 200 in 24.07 while running into a headwind. Freshman Danae Dyer took second with a time of 24.41.
Draxler cleared 14-02.00 to take first place. Fellow SDSU vaulters Marissa Berry (3rd; 13-06.25) and Alysia Allen (6th; 13-06.25) also had strong showings.
Maya Brosch came in second in the 400m hurdles with a personal best time of 1:00.68.
In the 400, Lisa-Anne Barrow (3rd; 54.42) and Jalyn Harris (5th; 55.08) both earned top five finishes.
THE NOTE
Before the meet, SDSU honored their six seniors.
