March 7, 2020 (La Jolla) - The Aztec track and field team kicked of the 2020 outdoor season at UCSD’s San Diego Collegiate Challenge on Saturday. 19 athletes competed with 12 making their 2020 debut. Vanessa Spizewski and Jordyn Bryant highlighted the day for SDSU by winning the long jump and discus throw.

February 29, 2020 (Albuquerque) - The Aztec track and field team finished second at the Mountain West Indoor Championships. SDSU had Kaitlin Heri win the pole vault and six Aztecs medaled in individual events.

February 28, 2020 (Albuquerque) - The Aztec track and field team completed the second day of the Mountain West Indoor Championships and had 14 athletes qualify for Saturday’s finals. Through five events, the Aztecs set in fourth place with a chance an opportunity to gain ground Saturday in the pole vault and sprints.

February 27, 2020 (Albuquerque) - he Aztec track and field team had a successful first day at the Mountain West Indoor Championships Thursday at the Albuquerque Convention Center. The day was highlighted by Asia Smith winning the pentathlon and the Aztecs shattering their school record in the distance medley relay.

February 14, 2020 (Albuquerque) - The Aztec track and field wrapped up the Don Kirby Elite Invitational at the Albuquerque Convention Center Friday afternoon.

Sonja Andenmatten paced the Aztecs in the 800m with a personal best time of 2:11.89, the sixth best time in SDSU’s indoor history. Nyjari McNeil placed ninth with a time of 2:12.12.

February 13, 2020 (Albuqerque) - The Aztec track and field team wrapped up the first day of the Don Kirby Elite Invitational at the Albuquerque Convention Center Thursday evening. Only seven Aztecs competed but three earned top three finishes.

February 8, 2020 (Albuquerque) - The Aztec track and field team’s 4x400m relay team beat the SDSU school record by nearly six seconds to etch their names in the record books.

Jalyn Harris, Danae Dyer, Sakura Roberson and Nyjari McNeil finished in 3:33.81, nearly a full six seconds better than the previous record of 3:39.52 set at last year’s Mountain West Indoor Championships. SDSU’s time gives them the eighth fastest in the nation.

February 7, 2020 (Albuquerque) - The Aztec track and field team wrapped up day one of the New Mexico Collegiate Invitational Friday evening at the Albuquerque Convention Center.

Vanessa Spizewski had the top finish among Aztecs, earning a second-place finish in the long jump with a new PR jump of 18-07.25 (5.67m). Dejanae Thompson came in ninth (17-04.00).

January 31, 2020 (Flagstaff) - The Aztecs took the top three spots in the pentathlon at the NAU Mountain T’s Invitational on Friday. Asia Smith (3,797 points), freshman Neele Schuten (3.660) and Sara Absten (3,501) all won at least one event to help the Aztecs claim first, second and third.

The day was highlighted by the Aztecs taking the top two spots in the 4x400m relay with the A squad running the third best time in school history (3:41.20).

June 6, 2019 (Austin) - Aztec pole vaulter Bonnie Draxler earned the silver medal at the NCAA Outdoor Championships in Austin, Texas Thursday evening. The senior from Wrightstown, Wisc. tied her own school record by clearing 14-09.50 (4.51m). This was the second time this year Draxler has finished as the NCAA runner-up, both times to an Arkansas vaulter.

May 24, 2019 (Sacramento) - Bonnie Draxler qualified for the NCAA Outdoor Championships after finishing eighth in the pole vault Friday evening at the NCAA West Prelims in Sacramento, Calif.

Draxler cleared 14-02.00, which tied for the best height. This will be her fourth career appearance at the NCAA Championships (2nd outdoor). She was the national runner-up three months ago at the NCAA Indoor Championships.

May 24, 2019 (Sacramento) - Sophomore Callista Fletcher advanced to the 100-meter dash quarterfinals of the NCAA West Prelims Thursday evening after finishing with the 13th best time (11.49). Nyjari McNeil (800m) and Maya Brosch (400m hurdles) also competed Thursday evening, but did not qualify for Friday’s quarterfinals.

May 9, 2019 (Clovis) -  Asia Smith and Sara Absten combined to pick up eight points for the Aztecs in the heptathlon Thursday evening at the Mountain West Outdoor Championships. Smith took third with 5,309 points and Absten placed seventh with 4,937 points with both heptathletes setting new personal bests for total points.

April 20, 2019 (Long Beach) - The Aztec track and field team competed in the Beach Invitational Saturday. Nyjari McNeil highlighted the day for the Aztecs by taking first in the 800 meter run.

McNeil bested 91 competitors in the 800. Her time of 2:06.58 beat her previous best of 2:07.20 to reset her SDSU freshman record. She also moved up from No. 5 to No. 4 all-time at SDSU.

April 18, 2019 (Azusa) - Freshman Sara Absten and sophomore Asia Smith wrapped up the heptathlon at the Bryan Clay Invitational Thursday afternoon. Smith finished in seventh place in her group with 5,157 points while Absten came in 14th place in her grouping with 4,550 points.

April 5, 2019 (Las Vegas) - The Aztec track and field team tied for second in the Mountain West Challenge Friday afternoon at UNLV. SDSU took first in eight events and saw Jordyn Bryant set a SDSU freshman record in the shot put. Bryant had a throw of 49’ 9.25” (15.17m) to top Jasmine Burrell’s record of 49’ 6.25” set in 2012.

March 23, 2019 (San Diego) - The SDSU track and field team wrapped up the annual 41st Aztec Invitational on a high note. Callista Fletcher took first in the 200 meter dash, Bonnie Draxler continued her outstanding senior captain with another first place finish in the pole vault and Nyjari McNeil won the 800 meter run and set a new SDSU record for freshmen.

March 22, 2019 (San Diego) - The San Diego State track and field team closed out the second day of the Aztec Invitational with five first place finishes and nine top three finishes.

Aztecs that took first place include Callista Fletcher (100m; 11:40w), Nyjari McNeil (800m; 54.43), Danae Dyer (100m hurdles; 13.80), Paige Comiso (5000m; 18:42.78) and Sarah Absten (heptathlon group B; 4,719 points).

February 22, 2019 (Albuquerque) - The San Diego State track and field team sits in second place entering the final day of the Mountain West Indoor Championships. Bonnie Draxler highlighted the day by capturing the championship in the pole vault. She cleared 4.33 meters to set a meet record and capture her fourth indoor championship (fifth overall), becoming the first athlete to accomplish that.

February 8, 2019 (Albuquerque) - Freshman Nyjari McNeil beat the school record she set last month in the 600 meter run Friday evening to highlight day one of the Don Kirby Invitational for the Aztecs.

McNeil took first place in the 600 meter run and beat her previous record by 0.29 seconds. Sakura Roberson earned a fourth place finish with a time of 1:33.77 and Sara Absten had her best time in three times, finishing in 1:40.34, over five seconds better than her performance last week.
