The Aztecs had two athletes set top 10 all-time marks

April 16, 2022 (Long Beach) - The Aztec track and field team wrapped up the final day of competition this weekend at the Beach Invitational. Two Aztecs set top 10 all-time performances on Saturday and multiple athletes set new PR’s throughout the meet.

Kaitlin Heri continued her impressive run of form with another PR on Saturday afternoon in the pole vault. The senior won the gold invitational and cleared 14-00.50, a new PR, which puts her in a tie for the fourth highest clearance in San Diego State history. Her clearance of 14-00.50 is the fifth highest in the west region and the 12th highest in the country this season. Ashley Callahan continued her freshman campaign in the event with a 13-03.75 clearance, which put her in a tie for second.

Erica Grotegeer also put herself into the record books on Saturday. In the discus throw Grotegeer threw 169-06, to finish ninth overall in the competition and put herself ninth all-time in SDSU history.

Over the course of the past four days of competition at the Mt. Sac Relays, Bryan Clay Invitational and Beach Invitational, the Aztecs have set six top 10 all-time marks. San Diego State has had athletes crack the top 10 in the 400m run, 800m run, two in the 1500m run, the pole vault and the discus throw.

The Aztecs are back on the track in two weeks, at the Steve Scott Invitational hosted by UC Irvine on April 29-30 and the Desert Heat Classic on April 30 hosted by Arizona.
