Kain finished the 1,500m in 4:32.83, fourth best in school history

April 29, 2021 (Riverside) - The Aztec track and field team competed in the UC Riverside Distance Invitational Thursday evening.

The night was highlighted by Jessica Kain running the 1,500m in 4:23.83, the fastest time by an Aztec since 1982 and the fourth-best in school history.

Kain beat her previous best time by nearly eight seconds and finished in second place, coming in less than half a second behind Cal State Fullerton’s Samantha Huerta.

 

Lauren Harper won the 800m, finishing in 2:13.42, less than a second off her PR, and was followed by Alex Lomeli who took fifth (2:17.53).

 

In the 5,000m, the top three Aztec finishers all recorded new personal bests. Emily Burd came in fourth (17:53.71), Amber Elias placed sixth (17:56.32) and Renee Phillips finished in 18:01.68.

 

UP NEXT

The Aztecs sprinters will be competing at UC Riverside tomorrow (Friday, April 30) while the throwers will be at Long Beach State.
