April 30, 2022 (Irvine/Tucson) - The Aztec track and field team returned to the track on Saturday night at both the Steve Scott Invitational in Irvine, California and the Desert Heat Classic in Tucson, Arizona. The Aztecs set four top 10 all-time marks on Saturday.

At the Steve Scott Invitational the Aztec pole vault team continued their dominant run of form. All four Aztecs finished in the top four on the day, led by Ashley Callahan who finished in first, clearing 13-00.75. Elizabeth Funk finished in a tie for second, clearing 12-05.50, while Corey Friedenbach and Kaitlin Heri finished in a tie for fourth, also clearing 12-05.50 but had more misses at the lower heights.

The Aztecs were also in action at the Desert Heat Classic in Tucson, Arizona. At the Desert Heat Classic the Aztecs had three athletes and a relay team finish in top 10 all-time times. The 4x100m relay team of Tai McDonald, Aisha Watt, Jalyn Harris and Jada Moore lead the charge on Saturday night. The quartet ran 44.32, good for second place in the meet and eighth all-time in SDSU history.

In the 800m run Sakura Roberson set a new PR and a top 10 time all-time in the event. The senior from LA Jolla HS in San Diego ran 2:07.74 in the event, placing third overall, and putting herself in a tie for 7th all-time in the event. Lauren Harper also did well for the Aztecs, running 2:08.83 to place fifth. That time is just outside the top 10 all-time in the event.

Jada Moore put in a stellar performance on Saturday night, she posted top 10 all-time performances in both the 100m dash and 200m dash, in addition to being a part of the 4x100m relay team that set a top 10 all-time mark as well. In the 100m dash she ran 11.50 to finish fourth overall in the event and put herself in a tie for ninth all-time in the event.  She followed that performance with another top performance in the 200m dash. Moore posted a 23.28 mark in the 200m dash, which is the No. 6 all-time mark in program history.

The 4x400m relay team capped off the night for the Aztecs. The team of Nyjari McNeil, Roberson, Aisha Watt and Jalyn Harris ran 3:#6.21 to finish first in the event, outpacing Arizona who finished second in 3:36.73.
