March 15, 2019 (San Diego) - The No. 25 Aztec water polo team fell to No. 10 UC Irvine 13-8 Friday afternoon at the Aztec Aquaplex. SDSU fell behind 4-0 and 6-1 early in the game and couldn’t recover.

Shelby Kraft and Mary Myers led the Aztecs with two goals apiece. Myers also chipped in two assists, as did Emily Bennett.

After being outscored 3-0 in the opening quarter, the Aztecs rallied to score three goals in the second frame, but the Anteaters countered with four and took a 7-3 lead into the halftime break.

UC Irvine put the game out of reach with five third quarter goals. The Aztecs held a 4-1 advantage in the fourth quarter, but it was too little too late.
