June 1, 2017 (San Diego) - San Diego State shortstop Danny Sheehan has been named a Collegiate Baseball Third Team All-American.

Sheehan, a senior from Chino, Calif., was named the 2017 Mountain West Tony Gwynn Co-Player of the Year and earned first-team all-conference honors for the second time in his career.

This season, he is hitting .354 with 17 doubles, a triple, six home runs, 51 RBI and 53 runs scored. He has stolen 11 bases and has a .979 fielding percentage.

Sheehan had a career-best 17-game hitting streak this season (April 14-May 14) and has reached base safely (via hit, walk or hit by pitch) in each of SDSU’s last 26 contests.

In conference play, Sheehan led the Aztecs with a .398 batting average to go along with 31 RBI and 32 runs scored over 30 league contests. He finished with a .636 slugging percentage and a .493 on-base mark.

After claiming the 2017 Mountain West Championship last weekend in Albuquerque, N.M., the Aztecs have been assigned to the NCAA Regional at Long Beach State where they will face the host team in their opening game om Friday (June 2) at 8:34 p.m. PT at Blair Field in Long Beach.
