THE SHORT LIST: WORLD'S BEST FILM SERIES ON SCREEN IN LEMON GROVE DURING MAY AND JUNE

April 10, 2014 (Lemon Grove) - The Lemon Grove Historical Society and New Pacific Productions, Inc., will present a five-part film program featuring The Short List, the showcase for outstanding international short film, starting Apr. 30 at 6:30 p.m. in the Lemon Grove Library, 3001 School Lane.The series will continue on May 7, 14 and 21 and culminate on June 4 with a hilarious comedy show.  All programs will start at 6:30 p.m. in the Rosemary Putnam Community Room of the library, where comfortable seating and state-of-the-art projection made the recent screenings of "John Adams" a pleasure for audiences.

A four-time Emmy Award recipient, The Short List aired for 16 years on public broadcasting in the U.S. and four years on Movieola in Canada.  The memory lingers on of the only weekly series of its kind in the world to present comedy, drama, animation and documentary in beguiling combinations -- a literal film festival in your living room.  

With original films hailing from L.A. to Tashkent, NYC to Beijing, and Atlanta to Buenos Aires, The Short List is a window on the world of independent filmmaking by some of the most talented artists on earth.

On view on Apr. 30 will be films from Germany, Yugoslavia, France, USA, Norway, Italy, Japan and Brazil. Among the films is the clever "Spin" from Denver, the bittersweet "A Simple Mission" from Cologne, and the arresting "Tyger" from Rio de Janeiro.

The Short List as produced by Jack Ofield, written by Helen-Maria Erawan, and made possible by Eastman Kodak, Sony Corp., Cox Communications, Open Society Institute, and a consortium of foundations.  The series is geared to a general audience, ages 14 and over.
